Teaching manners on the dock is important so you are not using up all of your alloted time when at a trial, and so you can move a long quicker during practice times, and also so the dog is very clear on what is expected of him, and what is not, therefore he is able to expend all his energy towards the task and make his jumps as long as they can be. Dock Diving is the fastest rising sport and it is also great exercise for dogs in the summer to keep them cool, and has much less pounding on the joints than running, or jumping on land.

Although there are so many different ways to potty train a puppy. It is very difficult to find one that suit your pup’s need and fits your life style.
This method is like making a better larger crate with a bathroom in it (I call it the potty room) so that they don’t go all over the place in the house or even in the crate (when the puppy is too small, they can’t hold it for too long).
This method is proven to be very simple for any pups to understand. It even works for older, untrained, multiples, or hyper pups (It also works for busy owners and family with children who likes to keep the house urine free).
*Before you bring your new dog home, do the following:
- Get a panels gate that can be resize to your liking (in my video, I use a small animal crate from all living things, available in Petsmart for $41)
- Choose a specific area for them to go potty (indoor for smaller dog/ outdoor for bigger dog) & pick a less traffic area. This area will be permanent, they will always go to that same area, so choose the area carefully.
- Use the panels gate and make a room with potty pads in one side and bed,water, food, toys on the other.
(Don’t forget to put the opening of your gate on the bed side, NOT on the pads to avoid mess. Because your dog will come and greet you at the opening)
- Then watch your dog potty/ poop times for a day (how soon after meal/ after nap, what’s the time in between potty times, how many times a day he/ she poop, etc) .
- Write the potty schedule (so you don’t forget) and you BOTH must be able follow the schedule. Because they are just learning, they can’t go in the designated area on their own, yet.
- At the beginning you have to ask your dog to go according to the schedule you’ve made (pick one word for it, for example “go potty”), then let your dog in the gated area and close the gate.
- When they did go potty , let them out soon.
- Instant Praise and Treat for everytime they did go. Try to not open the gate until they did.
- Repeat the word (example “go potty”) several times if pup doesn’t go, then leave them alone/ leave the room.
- Come back to check (don’t stare)
Do not yell/ hit, this is not a punishment/ time out room.
-Repeat steps according to potty schedule and eventually they will go in and out without being asked (and on demands).
-Once they can go in and out by them self, you can remove the gate. ( they still will have that gate in their mind), and they will go there by themselves.
I let the dog sleep in the crate at night until he/ she is potty trained. Thye love their own room.
* Remember my method will work for sure, but it can not be compromised.
If the new owner is NOT as committed (and keep on forgetting to let them in, forgot to open the door to let them out, have no daily schedule, no gates no boundary, etc) some pups will never be potty trained forever. It’s not because they can not do it nor because they are bad pups, but because they don’t get enough help and they become very confuse of what they should do.
It’s never just the dog’s fault. You have to be responsible dog’s owner and commit 100% to help your dog learn this important skill.
* Select the area carefully for indoor potty training (for smaller to medium dogs), because they will permanently potty on that same area.
For medium large to large dog, outdoor is recommended. For outdoor, you can use this method, but move the gate outside, to which area you prefer them to go.
Same steps, and after they go back to the same gated area constantly, you can remove the gate. And
Now you will a cleaner back yard.
