468 x 60 Corner Dog

I have a 9 month old GSD and am curious at what age i can start his personal protection and muzzle fighting work. I know he will bite because we have performed the character tests as well as some pre-sleeve training at home. I’ve never owned pups. Before, i only bought fully trained dogs but my grandfather left me this dog when he died a couple months ago so I kept him and tested him and he seems to be born for the work. Any one know at what age Helpers are willing to start training? I’ve owned and handled dogs with various titles to include Schutzhund, KNPV, and Ringsport so i’m not worried about the work.
the reason i want muzzle fighting is because my wife and young son take him out on the days when I work late. She will be concerned with my kid while the dog keeps the guy/girl on teh floor until help arrives. Oh, and personal protection does not make a dog mean. In fact, it does the opposite because a degree of obedience is necessary before starting any type of protection work and even more is implemented when the training begins. If you don’t know about truely training dogs, please dont’ answer only opinions.
i’m not sure who or what you are talking about me asking a similar question before. It is possible however, that I left my account signed on and someone asked a question. I personally ahve never trained dogs but i have been a handler in the events and owners. There is a difference between being a handler and a trainer. I will investigate the acqusation about an earlier question however. I appreciate you bringing that to my attention.468 x 60 Corner Dog
tripforyou, let me thank you for brining this issue into light. As stated earlier, my eldest son seems to be at a point where he thinks he is older than he really is. He thinks he can ask ans speak however and whenever he wants. Believe me when I say I will handle this matter personally. To clearify, i did not ask this question earlier. I have found who did and in what manner and words they did. I appologize to anyone who answered the previous question and was offended by the response of my son. To all those that did answer this question, thank you. Your input and opinions are welcomed though not always agreed with. This situation will be handled ASAP.

Talk with the peole in your rea who handle the Shutzhund training they should be able to point you in the right direction.
And at 9 months your dog should already be training.

I have a pit mix 42lbs thats has been through obedience school training and has passed and done well. since she exibits good guard dog traits (never mind the pitbull part .she has no problem biting strangers and holding them back ive seen her do it many times lol) are there any tips that i can do at home to make her a bit more aggressive to intruders when they come in to my house. she only guards me on the street. she wont even bark when someone comes into that house. i tried some attack dog techniques on her but it didn’t work. any help?
She only nips at strangers if they touch her. as for my house OF course my windows and door is locked i live in a big city.468 x 60 Corner Dog
i know no one is gonna believe me but the dog was given to me and already came like that. she does it naturally not by training no one made her do it. Can someone please just be nice its only a dog!
the problem is she wont bark at intruders.
Can some one just answer my question? i mean a regular person not a militant dog obsessed person!

You REALLY shouldn’t have a pit bull.. or any dog (or animal.. or plant) for that matter.. I’m so sad for your dog.. I don’t care if you didn’t train her to bite strangers.. encouraging this behavior is HORRIBLE.. I only wish I could give more than one thumbs up to Catherine S…
